Monetizing creativity has been the elephant in the room for a while now. Artists used to sell albums, the Youtube ad-pocalypse and Instagram only recently started paying creators at all.

Web 3 by no means offers an instant solution, it does however bring back a certain quality we lost when going digital over the past decade, which is ownership.

Owning things gives them value, before we had money, we swapped shells for blueberries. Nowadays we own very little, we rent. We pay for everything and never
own anything.

Platforms and creators have a dotted history, to say the least. As creators we are grateful for the platforms capacity to connect us with an audience, our audience.. yet numerous times platforms take advantage of creators, with extortionate take rates and changing the structure of compensation over night without warning.

One of the best parts about of Web 3 for creators is that everything you build, launch, drop or experiment with exists forever without control of a platform.
